I am considering to buy an iBook. But I am not sure the how different are the 700Mhz and 800Mhz G3 processor. Is the G3 processor enough? Anyone can give me idea on how smooth an iBook works?

Thanks a lot, I am still a Wintel user and going to switch...

你問的CPU差別的問題﹐我無法回答。待會也許有人會來助陣。

至於買iBook合不合用﹐要看你想拿它來作什麼。請列舉一些可能的用法﹐大家好繼續討論。也請看這以前的 一篇

If you use Visio to draw only UML, you can refer to this. I use OmniGraffle (which is a bundle s/w of my Tibook) and MagicDraw for this purpose

For the compatibility of MS Office X with AppleWorks, I don't know because I am still using MS Office 2001. In my situation, I only type English, they are ok. Just I don't know why whenever I open a MS word file in AppleWorks and do the cut and paste, the font of the pasted text change. Besides this, no other problem. My AppleWorks file can be opened by MS word (both pc and Mac) without changing anything.

Thx a lot ar, FireFox.
The passage is a good one. You are such an active, helpful user.

Also, Any existing iBook user can give me an impression on how fast / smooth an iBook 800Mhz with 256MB RAM is?

I think my iBook is mainly for my school work (I am studying IS in Hong Kong). ie, word processing, presentation and some technical diagram like UML, system structure and database design etc (used to be done in troublesome Visio). I know AppleWork is bundled with new iBook, how does it compared with MS Office X? How about Chinese support in MacOS? Any recommended substitute product in MacOS for Visio?

I am also learning Java programming. Also, I am used to be a web programmer. Any good programming tools available in Mac platform

I would also like to play some games as well.

Is these too much for an iBook?
