Don't even bother, the I/O speed is way too slow, especially when the drives are filling up.

Got mine last week, and today I put in 2 x 1TB, backup my pix and music library... ^^
P.S. When you get a new drive, make sure you check if a jumper is set to 1.5 Gb/s or 3 Gb/s. For faster access, make sure it's set to 3 Gb/s (SATA II)

Which interface are you using to connect it? FW800 or USB2?
How's the speed if "spotlight" this volume? Is it run on JBOD instead of RAID?
I am also interested in this product but have no idea where can find it in HK. You bought it online or from retail shop?

I own the drobo 1st gen with only USB connectivity. I now have 3 750gb and 1 1tb drives in there and they worked fine. Nevertheless, the transfer speed is way too low. A simple backup of my iTunes library (about 150gb) takes 6hrs to complete. I like the drobo, but the I/O speeds hinders me from purchasing the 2nd gen with the firewire 800.
I was a beta tester for the 1st gen drobos and I believe the automated backup and storage virtualization idea works on these products. I was excited and amazed when I first got my drobo. However, after few years, I realized that for the price as being merely a backup device since it's so slow, I cannot say it it worth the purchase.
If anyone is interested, here's a review I've posted on Mobile01 back in 2007:
