It really depends on your requirements and how much money you are willing to spend. If money is not an issue, you can always go for the multi-cartridge LTO tape backup server, which can hold as much as 800GB worth of data per tape.

is there anything larger than 800GB backup tape? i was thinking of something as in terabyte size backup per tape. and yes, money is not an issue.

If that's the case, then just go for EMC or Veritas' SAN solutions.

what's about sony's SAIT 1 tape backup method? it claimed to hold 1.3tb per tape if compressed.

and care to explain what EMC or SAN are? thanks

that setup will cost us more if we choose to backup 160terabyte's of data. that's why i'm looking for per terabyte/tape solution not per terabyte/rack-set solution
