SIGMA SDX~

Let me quote someone in a SG forum on the new camera and 14n..
here isn't a free upgrade, it's expected to cost about US$1500 to upgrade. The new Pro/n is expected to retail at the old price of the original 14n, that of US$5000 list.

The existing 14n doesn't have a problem with sucky colours or soft images per se. The colours actually are better in many conditions than the other cameras I use. And the images are actually generally sharper than any other camera out there, because of the lack of an anti-aliasing filter, so I can't imagine anyone calling them soft. There is obscuring of low contrast detail because of the noise of the chip, but that is the one true problem the camera has. Not to be confused with soft images... the edges of this camera are sharper than any other DSLR out there currently.

Not at all, it's not a camera many people have and it also suffers from bad marketing issues. I'm lucky enough to have one and I love it to bits and I'd take it over a 1Ds in the studio. But anything other than ISO 80 (okay, maybe up to 160) and it becomes an unuseable camera. From the sample images the new camera certainly shares many highlights (no AA filter), and many drawbacks (still too much noise reduction going on, therefore still too noisy) as the old camera, but just having at least 1 stop more useable ISO makes the camera far more versatile. Kodak's samples are misleading though, they are mostly overexposed and therefore actually shot at a "lower" ISO.

Real world ASA 800 pix!
