Install the Value Pack, there's something called "Microsoft Language Register" (installed in Application:Microsoft Office X:Utilities)... set the language to Japanese, allow Double-byte support to some extent.
Damn, just did some test, I dunno what Micro$oft is doing but some Chinese characters can't be display, i.e. 你好嗎 (你 and 嗎 can't be display)

cuz "你" & "嗎" are not in the Japanese standard Kanji list...
actually this move let Excel v.X show Japanese not Chinese, as well as that problems in iPod.
