LCD 的兩種顯示狀態: Landscape/ Portrait？

我終於考慮換 LCD 來取代原來的 CRT，但碰到一個問題是很多NEC 和 Samsung 的 LCD 都可將 LCD 轉 90度，變成 Portrait 的狀態。規格可能寫成如下兩種:
Landscape:1600 X 1200 @60Hz
Portrait: 1200 X 1600 @60Hz

可是網站資料都只顯示支援 Window 系統，不知 Landscape/Portrait 的顯示是否和軟體 (如系統)有關，還是需要特別的 Video Card 或是 LCD 本身就可以做到呢？我是想用NEC LCD Portrait mode 來做譜，這樣可以看到更大的面積。 Any idea?

You may try this way:

1. Download this
2. Decoding that file then you will find MP621U
3. Using ResEdit to open it, delete XCod, XPar, XRay
4. Double click MP621U will mount out MacPortrait 6.2.1 Folder
5. Install MacPortrait

Actually, I didn't really try that way, so do your own risk!

When I bought Samsung 570, it came with a MacPortrait CD (actually it's an old thing, remember Radius' Pivot CRT monitor? Using same software). I think it needs s/n to register. Does the ResEdit part pin-point that aspect?

may I ask a question? can powerbook do that? potrait mode is very good for reading.

570/some landascape LCDs can rotate the screen 90 degree as portrait view, so it can take the advantage of MacPortrait. I don't know if it works on PB, I never tried.

Another piece: MacPortrait is running on software that actually needs to allocate some memory. And I doubt if it is support 1200x1600 resolution a bit. Have to check this tonight.

我剛在小白上試了，沒有問題，只是track pad的orientation並無隨之改變。
