It's probably not the most 離譜 among the spams, but I have received it so many times, with variations of a similar story: a powerful person (general, banker...) in some exotic country (South Africa, Tunicia) needs to transmit some money out of the country and needs my help.

And I received one of them again today, right before Bryan brought it up.

I heard that the fraud organisation behind it was actually run by a family. Does anyone know more?

I am a bit curious what would happen if I replied them. Will they actually phone me if I request so?

The reception of this letter might be strange to you since you dont have the afore-knowledge of who has written .

I am John Gumei the first son of late General Gumei of CoteD'ivore who was killed in a cold blood by some elements of destruction, unprogressive who called them selves rebels in the country .

After the killing of my father the family of Gumei had recieved several letters of threatening from the rebels both in the country and the neighbouring countries .

This has made the family to fleed out of the country for the safety of our lives since the Government of the country has not taken any serious measure to curb the existence of these people.

The member of the family has scattered all over Africa for the safety of there lives . I left the country for Nigeria just because of the cordial relationship between my father and Nigeria, secondly with current democratic Government which has made the country to rekorn with in the world.

As the heir apparent to the late General Gumei i had the oppurtunity to move my father liquid assest out of the country before it could be taken over by these one wanted human beings in the society .

eventually, i was able to escape with my father's jewelries worth four million dollars ($4m) and huge amount of which is ($75.5m) out of the country .

The safety of this money has been my major concern since the houses and the textiles comany owned by my father has been burnt by these undesirable element .

For the fact that i am in Nigeria does not secure my live since these people are all over the continent, and no one knows who enemies might be for this reason i dont want to take chances.

I have made all necessary arrangements to who ever that can sincerely handle the cash on my behalf some one who has fear of God and trustworthy .

On regular basis i make telephone contact with my younger ones where ever there are, and we have all concluded to make sure that the fund is transfered from WORLDWIDE SECURITY COMPANY in Nigeria where it was kept for security reason to the foreing country where it could not be traced.

Please am counting most on you the in of Almighty God to help me to secure this fund for the fact that if it's eventually traced noting would be left for the entire family to fall back on .

Mind you all the expenses that you may need to spend during the collection of this fund from the security company would be taken care by me.

我最常收到的垃圾信大多是賣大補帖的，還有“工商EMail 10萬筆”、前一陣子還常常收到寄信給五個人每個信箱放1元最後賺到1000元之類的金光黨信件。色情小廣告也不少。最近都會傳奇也不少，像是某某小孩得了白血病徵求骨髓，某某人被車撞了徵求目擊者，某某人在某某地被金光黨如何迷昏之類之類。

現代人想要不收垃圾信好像不大可能。我敢肯定各大 ISP 裡面一定有人偷這些資料出來賣。如果你自己有架過 Mail Server，你可以試試看 grep -P \w+@ /var/log/maillog 有多少個信箱地址被偷出來。

我公司的信箱是我在管，我架的是 Postfix，有設定拒絕來源不明的信件，可是這一陣子用 Hinet 寄的信件莫名其妙都轉到一台 msr.hinet.net 發出，偏偏這個 msr.hinet.net 沒有登錄 DNS！我只好把這個功能取消。
