At first sight I thought they are bees because of the colors.

Just added the EXIF info... hope the info will be useful to some.
CP4500 in fact most Coolpix macro function is very good... the trick is try get as close as you can... dragonfly might fly away but most will fly back again to the same spot.
In other words, try to observe their behavior first before squating and getting your shirt dirty like a army recruit... yes the 1st shot were taken at ground level-lying down

Thanks for the trick! I thought you probably had a great camera which allows you to shoot in a great distance.

30cm that's roughly the working distance for 100mm macro, if you want further you shall need 180mm L macro
