MySQL 4.1 與 unicode

Unicode 最大的麻煩是字串處理涵式，通通得改用一套新的。另外 bytes 數和字元數也不同，做 I/O 的時候也要特別處裡。

可惜的是，MySQL 4.1 甚至 5.0，都還只支援Unicode 2.0，即是所有Unicode 3.2 的 HKSCS 都還是和以前一樣，不支援。

2001 年的標準，竟然到兩年後， 2006 年的產品也仍未支援！

As of MySQL version 4.1, there are two new character sets for storing Unicode data:

* ucs2, the UCS-2 Unicode character set.
* utf8, the UTF8 encoding of the Unicode character set.

我用過不少資料庫，MySQL、PostgreSQL、DB2、Oracle，要不就是功能陽春要不就是值超所物，講到安裝維修支援，沒有一家及格，特別是 I 社與 O 社。

用來用去，只有微軟 SQL Server 的效能支援與價位比算是比較好的，可是就是只能在 Windowz 上跑...
