How to partition a Firewire Hard disk

Hi, I bought a external Firewire 2.5" case and install a IBM 20G hard disk in it, but I can't partition it after I initialize it. I have tried drive setup and Hard disk toolkit but fail. Anyone know how to do it?

When you initialize (format) the hard drive, you are partitioning it. Is this what you meant?
Check if you can mount the hard drive. If the answer is positive, you can use it right away. [img]images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

Basically I already format the drive and can use it, but now it just have a whole 20G hard disk, and I want to divide to 4 partitions. This is what I try to do but fail. Please help! Thank you

我想你的意思是說你的 Firewire Drive 不能用蘋果的 HD Setup 程式來切割吧…這倒是個頭痛的問題，我知道就像是 VST 所付的工具軟體會先檢查硬碟是不是他們的產品才能啟動。

不知道有沒有人用過什麼工具可以 partition 沒牌子 firewire 硬碟的？

The Firwire 2.5" external case came with a software called "Indigita Firewire." My case is made in Taiwan by the company called "Triumph." If you would like to give a try, you can try and find the software or contact the company. I'm wondering if your case has any software for mac with it...

我買的是NewMotion的外接盒，它有自己的軟體可以分割硬碟，請到NewMotion的網站看看...NewMotion (TW)

可試試Radialogic提供的程式;測試過即使未安裝過該程式,也可順利mount,但建議仍請安裝至少二個extension(RBC Driver及HD Driver)及format程式,
Test platform: 8.6/9.1 OK.

My Firewire case is "Imation Firewire + USB Portable" installed with a IBM travelstar 20G. There are no software come with the drive, it just got USB & Firewire driver for PC & Mac(8.6), Mac OS 9.1 don't need driver.
By the way, Thanks all to give advice!

Heat Utilities is free to handle firewire hard disk. However, I forget the URL. The company name maybe called "Macpitstop".

mac 9 的driver setup 是不能割 firewire HDD
的，我都是把HDD拆出來放到ＭＡＣ去分割partition 的，這樣分出來的partition比較可靠

裝 Radialogic 的 Driver 要小心，Radialogic Driver 一共有 5 個檔案，如果通通裝的話 Toaster 就不能用，同時也不能 Mount ISO9660 和 VCD 光碟。如果除了 HD 外還有裝 Firewire 外接 CD-RW 的話，再裝一個 Radialogic ATA/SCSI Driver 就好了。
