As you can see, the 12" is an iBook actually no matter want they want to call it... ^^

At least they moved the AC port to the left side with all the other ports. That makes docking easier.

But how can they call it a "full feature" notebook when it does NOT have a PC card slot? Ha!

640MB RAM max is pretty low, too. It doesn't seem to have any L3 cache either.

so ... the "iBook G4" uses GeForce 4 Go MX 420 ...

if you can find the specs of the 12" iBook g4... then you should also know the 17" giant uses GeForce4 440 Go/64M DDR.

speed wise for GPU (if I remember right)

ATI RM7500 > GeForce4 420 Go > ATI RM9000 > GeForce4 440 Go

GeForce4 has higher power consumption than ATI's (correct me if I'm wrong)

ATI RM7500 > GeForce4 420 Go > ATI RM9000 > GeForce4 440 Go

GeForce4 has higher power consumption than ATI's (correct me if I'm wrong)

Mac OS X可不支援DirectX阿!
所以話也別說的太滿,
再看看表現吧...

For one not really relative question:
Is there any problem or issue we have to pay attention to during installing X11 package from Apple while Xfree86 4.2 installed already?

如果說DirectX的result不能作準的話，唯一理由是ATI的DirectX driver比nVidia好，而ATI的Quartz/QuickTime driver又比nVidia的差。但這不是事實。
ATI的Windows driver不及nVidia已是人所共知的，至於在OS X上的driver+hardware比較，可以參考Mac's Only的報告。雖然不是MR9K比GF4go440，但明顯地，ATI在Mac platform上，比nVidia更有利。

如果要solid proof的話，要等有人post新PowerBook 17"的Result上網再作比較。

小弟後來再找找資料,
我還是只能確定MR9K是最好的選擇,
後面的排名就不確定了

雖然心中有點遺憾,
可是最遺憾的是12"PB沒有L3 cache跟ambient light sensor!!!
前者在速度上不知道會影響多少,
後者讓我失去在暗暗的會議室或房間中可以方便使用的機會...

在15" PowerBook 1G上，L3 Cache在大多數的程式上大約會打七折，12" PowerBook上應該影響少些，一來867是6.5x system bus，比1G的7.5x低，二來867有DDR RAM。

請參考香港rhapsody的討論。

不過，有些特別的軟件，如VPC，沒有L3的話，只有兩成速度！

哈哈。那個蘋果才有的DDR/2（除以二）會有多大幫助？

mmm...都有少少作用的，一來DDR的chip，一般比SDR的快，可以省到一個或半個cycle輸出critical word，相當於867的6/3 CPU cycles或1G的7/3 CPU cycles。
二來，DDR可以令FSB和AGP更飽和，十個bubbles中，減少一兩個也是好的。

不過DDR SODIMM可貴多了！
