Please help me to format my Maxtor D740X ATA-133 Drives

I bought one Acard AEC-6880M ATA-133 RAID PCI-Adaptor installed in my Power Macintosh 8500/250 with a Sonnet G3/500 CPU Upgrade Card. I try to connect two Maxtor D740X Ultra ATA 133 Drives for RAID 0 stripping. I have followed
all the Acard Manual instructions but I got an error message when I try to initialize the drives using Apple Drive set up as follows:

Assertion (!localError) failed in "PatchWriteDriver.c" on line 64

My Mac is on Mac OS 9.1. In Apple System Profiler, I can see the Acard controller card and two drives attached. However, these two drives cannot be mounted as I cannot format it at all.

Can everyone tell me what I should do in order to use my drives?

i thought you forget to set jumper (master & slave) please check hard cover drawing
