Have anyone seen the 4Jxx build that supposed to be the 10.1 build with Chinese and other languages?

I do think 10.1 upgrade already contains Chinese components. Indeed.

I've followed your instruction to install Chinese components from OS X TC CD to my 10.0.3. Unfortunately I've got a corrupted CD so I only can install TCIM* modules. No Chinese fonts. And I DID NOT install the CoreComponent package.

However, after I upgrade to 10.1. All these TC and Korean fonts, and keyboard options mysteriously appeared! That was a good sign! So I just gave it a shot -- I install the CoreComponent package.

Jesus! The components must incompatible to 10.1, since it crash AppleWorks 6.2.1 when switch to Chinese input. After few second's thought, I decided to re-upgrade 10.1 again (sounds weird, isn't it?) because I think the installer might smart enough to detect older version files.

Guess what... I DID IT! The OS X 10.1 installer DID IT! I used 10.1 CD to upgrade 10.1 on my hard drive and it only upgrade outdated language components (though I did not see "Chinese" show up in the upgrade message). And after the re-upgrade, not only my Chinese language environment get back to work, the system performace also seems faster than the 1st upgrade. (weird again)

I don't have OSX TC CD, either. I think UniDoc's Chinese input system is acceptable for me, although I have got used to Hanin.

Anyway, in fact, I am kind of disappointed that there is no CLK-like component bounded with OS X.1.

I'm sorry to tell you that, the problem is not with CLK or the IME, the program written must be Unicode/2-byte aware... I have not seen InDesign 2 but Office v.X and FreeHand 10 (these are Carbon) does not support 2-byte Far East language.

AppleWorks (Carbon), Mail, Interface Builder (Cocoa) works just fine however.

I noticed that 10.1 has included some extra fonts, that will enable you to display the characters but still there's no IME in 10.1...=(

Guys,

Managed to get my hands on 10.1 (4Jxx) build, and updated my 10.0.3 Far East IMEs components and fonts in my 5G64 US English build... what I can say thus far is it's beautiful (after getting rid of all the bitmapped fonts in Classic)

Check it out:

I really don't know where do you get the idea that Apple LiSong Light and BiauKai are new to 10.1. They've been in 10.0.X tier 2 all the time.

And you forget Apple LiGothic Medium.

Oh, BTW, it's so cool that the world's most advanced OS needs only a little hack and *get hold of* some *warez* to bring back the multi-lingual capability that comes with the previous generation OS.

I'm sorry for the misinformation... I have never install a Tier 2 Mac OS X before., even though I have the real CD myself... sorry, I've just confirmed that you're right... as some more fonts are installed part of Essential.pkg in /Library/Fonts and /System/Library/Fonts... stupid me did not look there... thanks for the pointer....=)

My apology again... however I don't do warez... anyway the page/item has been updated to reflect the mistake.

Thanks for the pointer again... learn new thing everyday

All OS X versions that come with Chinese localization is called "Tier 2". So if you installed the so-called "Chinese OS X 10.0", it is Tier 2.

BTW, Tier 2 OS doesn't mean it's 2nd class. It's actually 3rd class. For it starts with Tier 0.

I did not know of that term as I said... I do have the Tier 2 10.0.3 CD, which the id itself as Mac OS X 10.0.3 (build 4M23). I did not use it before as I have 10.0 US previously installed... and I didn't want to reinstall just to have Chinese & Korean IME... that's why I came out with the hack in the first place...

Thanks again for the complete info.
