Any program for mac that i can set up a mail or bbs server

just asking if there is any program that i
can set up a mail server and BBS server on Mac system
and is it recommanded? or all i need is buying a PC to have
linux system to do that?

Mac OS X 已經內建了 postfix mail server 跟 Apache web server，所以你不需要買任何軟體。

First you should consider that how much accounts you're going to support. If you just want to build a simple workgroup platform, Mac OS X can handle that well. The system comes with pre-imstalled Postfix, Apache and PHP. You just need to install MySQL to setup a web-based forum with phpBB or punBB.

However, if you're going to open mail accounts for more than hundreds of users, Postfix can handle that too, but you'll need a seperated storage space and different athentication scheme, such as LDAP. In that case, the Mac OS X Server may be the better choice.

For ASCII-based BBS, I've no idea. Maybe you can try installing Firebird BBS on you Mac.
