微軟 MSDN 的 Windows Mobile Developer Center 日前由 Donna Tapella 發表了一個案例研究專文「Porting the Amplitude Application from the iPhone to a Windows Mobile Device – a Case Study」，內容講述將蘋果 iPhone 上的應用軟體移植到 Windows Mobile 平台上。這篇專文中是拿軟體開發者 Luke Thompson 的聲音監控軟體 Amplitude 成功轉移的經驗為例，講述了兩平台間基本的差異以及轉移所需注意的相關程序。

當然這樣的司馬昭之心絕對不只是「案例研究」而已。分析師表示此舉意味著微軟正準備鼓勵軟體開發商與開發者將已經為 iPhone 所研發的軟體轉換改寫成 Windows Mobile 平台版本，準備充實即將開張的 Windows Mobile 軟體商店。目前 Windows Mobile 平台上有許多適合辦公與工作方面的軟體，不過在影音娛樂與休閒方面則是付之闕如，而那正是 iPhone 的強項。

不過就算微軟能夠成功策動許多軟體開發者將 iPhone 版本改寫成 Windows Mobile 版本，那也只是在數目上多少充實，基本上 Windows Mobile 平台仍需要相當強悍且獨家的軟體才成，否則僅是在少數軟體來個「你有我也有」，對逐鹿中原來說實在是於事無補。
